Formatges Muntanyola has also been recognised in the livestock world for the genetic value of its herd of goats, appearing in third place in CAPRIGRAN ranking.
The Murcia-Granadine goat breed is ideal for cheese making.
Quoting Urpina’s farmer, Joan, “they are like a Ferrari, small but with a very high performance. This is due to the quantity of milk they produce, but what makes them truly remarkable is the quality of the milk.”
This breed was introduced in Catalonia about 40 years ago. Thanks to the close relationship the Catalan breeders had with ACRIMUR, the organization form Murcia that controls the genealogical book of this species in its native area. Murcia-Grenadine goat can be found throughout the Mediterranean basin, especially in the hottest areas, therefore they quickly adapted to the Catalan territory.
Additionally, Codintec has been awarded at Liderpack contest for its work with Formatges Muntanyola when designing the labels of the cheese factory’s products.
This award considers creative, innovative and sustainable packaging, being the most important award in this industry since 1995.
